Happy New Year from Whitby

We lucked out with the one sunny day between Christmas and New Year in what has been an absolute wash out of a December…

Hello 2024, lets see what you’ve got in store!

Everyone loves a trip to Whitby, am I right? The pretty harbour, the beach, the walk up to Sandsend, the fish and chips - and a pint in The Endevour, obviously! We usually go to the coast every few months. I love the feeling of getting your hair blown about on a windy beach and there’s something therapeutic about being next to the sea.

To change up our usual itinerary, we decided to walk up to Whitby Abbey this time, and then down to St Marys churchyard for the views of the town harbour. We could not have planned the weather better if we’d ordered it which is saying something for the Yorkshire coast 😂 Golden sunlight, a pink sky at sunset and a cool but crisp feel to the day made it a memorable trip. Okay, so I might have fallen in the freezing cold sea trying to get a particular shot, but I’m moving on from that!!

Some places just possess a kind of magic and although I’ve heard some people say Whitby has seen better days and that the town is a little run down in places, I think its retained its cobbledy street charm, and the views from the hilltop never get old.

If you love Whitby too and fancy treating yourself to a fine art print, a selection of images I took on our trip are going into the print shop from tomorrow.
